Kolkata: The body of a Bharatiya Janata Party worker was found hanging from a tree on Sunday in Hooghly district of West Bengal. police gave this information. He said that the body of middle-aged Ganesh Roy was found hanging from a tree near Khanati village located in Goghat area.
The BJP alleged that Roy was killed by members of the ruling party Trinamool Congress (TMC). However, TMC has denied this allegation. TMC said party members were not involved in Roy's murder.
Police said that Ganesh Roy had been missing since Saturday and the cause of his death is being investigated. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said that TMC killed Roy and hanged his body from the tree at midnight to create an atmosphere of panic among the party workers in the area.
Dilip Ghosh said, “Hanging BJP workers and killing them has become a new trend, but we will strongly resist it.” TMC is frightened by the support BJP is getting. ”
BJP MP from Hooghly, Lockett Chatterjee said, “This barbarism must end. Where are the defenders of democracy and why they are silent on the continuous killing of BJP workers in West Bengal? ”
While protesting against the incident, BJP workers blocked the Goghat-Arambagh road for some time, but were later dispersed by the police.
In the last few years, incidents of the bodies of many BJP workers in various parts of the state have been found hanging.
