Four people have been detained in the gang rape. Inspector Deepak Baghel, in charge of Amilia police station, said that the incident took place on Saturday night in a village about 60 km from Sidhi district headquarters. The victim's husband has passed away four years ago and runs a small shop in her hut for livelihood. She lives there with her younger sister and two children.
Baghel told the complaint that the victim had closed her shop and went to sleep in the hut on Saturday night, when the accused reached there at around 10 pm and asked for water to drink. On the woman's refusal, they forcibly entered the hut and gang-raped her. After the rape, he severely injured the victim by putting iron rods in his private parts. After the incident, the woman became unconscious due to excessive bleeding.
He told that at the time of the incident, the victim's 40-year-old younger sister and two 16 and 18-year-old sons were at home. But he could not call people for help because his hut was in a secluded place apart from the village.
Baghel said that the victim was first sent to the hospital in Sidhi district for treatment, from there she has been sent to the government hospital in neighboring Rewa district for better treatment. Where his condition has been reported out of danger by doctors.
He said that after the incident, the victim's sister called an autorickshaw rickshaw from the village and brought the victim to Amalia police station, from where the victim was sent to Sidhi's district hospital. Baghel said that the police took the four accused into custody on Sunday after the complaint and they are being questioned. The accused and the victim are from the same village.
Police said that on the complaint of the woman, investigation is being done by registering a case under Section 376 (rape) of Bhadvi and other related sections. Reacting to the incident, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that no accused will be spared in Sidhi's incident, an attempt will be made to get them punished soon.
